Torque limiting device for surgical use

Limiting device torque intended for use in surgery comprising: a swivel case (24) having a first and a second end; A base unit (3) fitted at the first end of said housing (24), said base unit (3) an input shaft (4) intended to be fitted onto a rotating device. An output shaft (13) passing through the second end of said housing (24), said output shaft (13) one disposed flange (11) about said axis (13), said flange (11) and said unit base (3) having adjacent surfaces; A plurality of recesses in said faces practiced said base unit (3) and said flange (11), said recesses may be positioned so that they are in mutual alignment; A ball (16) located within and between said opposed recesses of each pair; and A arranged elastic element (18) around said output shaft (13) between said flange (11) and said second opposite side of said box end (24), exerting said elastic element (18) a force to maintain a drive connection between said balls (16) and said opposing surfaces, being interrupted said drive connection when the torque exerted on said balls (16) by said elastic element (24) is displaced by the counter torque exerted on said balls (16) said flange (11), characterized in that: said recesses made in the surface of said base unit (3) are shaped curved ellipses (29), being located the curved ends of said ellipses on a circle formed by the rotation of said base unit (3) about its axis, to facilitate the action of said balls bearing (16) into and out of said recesses of the base unit (3).
