Method and device for making ski pole handles
Registered November 9, 1962 (A 8834/62). - the beginning of the patent period; September 15, 1964,
The invention relates to a method and a device for producing ski pole handles. The method is according to the invention characterized in that made of a piece of material, preferably made of leather, an elongated board and thereby deformed under the known application of pressure and heat to a closed at one end and on a longitudinal side partially open sleeve The plate is pressed by means of a mandrel into a mold and then pushed by means of the mandrel into a cavity extending in the longitudinal direction of the mandrel. The means for carrying out this method essentially comprises a mandrel which can be moved by means of a punch into a mold, wherein the mandrel and / or the mold are heatable.
In the drawing, the device, the board and the finished handle in an embodiment 10 are shown, for example. Fig. 1 shows the board prior to deformation, Figs. 2 and 3 show, in associated cracks, the fully deformed handle. From Figs. 4 and 5, the means for carrying out the method according to the invention in mutually associated cracks can be seen. Fig. 6 shows a part of this device.
For manufacturing, the ski pole grip is preferably made of leather, a board 1, 15 as shown in FIG, 1 reveals. This board has against the rear end slightly tapered side parts, the front of the board is ovate rounded. The rear boundary line is a straight line.
Such a leather blank in the form of the board 1 is placed over the mold 7, 8 and held there by means of a movable plate 17 in the hinge 17 in order to avoid any wrinkling of the leather. Then the leather blank is pressed down into the mold 7, 8.
This happens because the seated on a circuit board 1 in an eccentric 12 mandrel 5, 6 is pushed together with the eccentric means of a four guide rods 18 movable punch 10 down and pushed simultaneously with the aforementioned eccentric in the cavity 9 forward.
The mandrel consists of two parts 5, 6 in order to remove it from the finished handle 4 after the deformation has been carried out.
The duration of the deformation is preferably between 40 and 60 sec, the temperature of the deformation in soft leather at about 60 ° C in hard leather to 100 ° C (heating 11).
Deformed is lohgares, vegetable tanned or chrome tanned leather. Further pre- or post-treatment of the leather is not required.
Natheless deformation of ski pole handles has the following advantages in particular:
1. Much longer shelf life, since the possibility of chafing of the leather at the seam and the tearing of Knauihaht is turned off. Furthermore, the seamless knob also makes tearing out of the hand strap impossible.
Second The leather is stretched so hard and so strong by the deformation under pressure and heat that it is impossible to expand the leather even under the strongest stress and wet conditions. Of the
The handle therefore retains its shape unchanged even under the most demanding conditions.
Third By the mentioned moments, all weaknesses, which were previously given in Schistockgriffe turned off, which of course also significantly increases the sporting usefulness. The deformed in the manner described ski pole handles are almost indefinitely durable.

4th Leather is a much worse heat conductor than z. B. plastic. In addition, leather is much more comfortable in the hand (sweat in the palm with rubber or plastic handles :).
By the method according to the invention and the device for its implementation, it is now possible to use leather in a particularly advantageous manner for the production of ski-pole handles.
In particular, it should be pointed out that the mandrel parts 5 and 6 carry front unevenness or roughening 16 so that it is held there in the course of deformation of the leather cap. For ease of handling, the mandrel parts 5, 6 handles 14, 15. The finished deformed board has a shape as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 can be seen. It has essentially the shape of a closed at one end 2 sleeve. This end 2 forms a seamless and smooth completely self-contained cap for the upper end of the ski pole.
This handle is then placed in a previously proposed manner on a ski pole, with reinforcing inserts can be used. Finally, the open edges 3 of the handle are sewn. The handle then sits firmly on the floor.
In the illustrated handle only a bulge 19 is provided for supporting the hand. In already proposed manner, several bulges can be arranged here, which correspond to the individual fingers of a hand.
