Spectroscopic burn injury evaluation apparatus and method

Abstract

(57) By using the reflective spectroscopic method of the induction fluorescence spectroscopic method by summary purple outdoor daylight or 青光, visible light, and infrared light, the evaluation equipment 30 and the method in relation to it a surgeon can evaluate the range and the depth of burn injury of the skin quickly are offered. The equipment 30 supervises the state of the structure ingredient in the skin 2 which received injury, and a metabolism ingredient. The equipment 30 has two or more light sources 32*42, the sensor 44, the microprocessor 46, and two or more optical fiber bundles 48*54. The above-mentioned light source emits the excitation light of the wavelength defined beforehand. When each of the above-mentioned light source operates, the sensor 44 measures the quantity of the response light received in two or more wavelength zones to which its attention is paid. The side fiber bunch 54 arranged in the position about 1 cm away from the main fiber bunch plays the role of detection of moisture under a burn domain. By evaluating the skin of a burn part optically, the skin portion which will recover automatically within several weeks is prevented from being removed superfluously, and the equipment 30 can lessen quantity of the skin which must be transplanted surgically by that cause.
