Method for closing folding boxes
Registered April 13, 1962 (A 3100/62); Priority of the application in France of 25 January 1962 claimed.
Beginning of patent period · January 15, 1963.
There are cartons of cardboard or other material known that can be stored folded flat and the automatic unfolding of the soil by a simple pressure on two opposing folds. The main drawback of these boxes is that they require special machines to make the folding and lining in two mutually perpendicular directions, thus requiring sequential operations and the use of expensive gluing machines in a slow cycle.
There is also known a method of working in which the folds and bonds required to make the floor are made by placing the box in the mold which it is to have later on, whereupon all parts of the floor are folded back before the box is folded flat becomes.
The invention relates to a method for closing cartons, the cartons having a blank whose four main parts form the side walls of the box, one of which carries a Klebefalz and on the side of the bottom by a bottom flap for each of the narrow sides and through each bottom part is extended for each broad side, each bottom part carrying a wing along an oblique fold edge, which is glued to the adjacent bottom flap.
The method is characterized essentially by the fact that after the folding of the box body and the Adhesive Klebefalzes one side wall on the adjacent side wall, the box is set up with a parallelogram cross-section, resulting from the correct cross-section of the box by a partial folding in the same sense like the last fold, in which the chess tel is flattened, whereupon the two bottom flaps folded down and provided with Klebstoffpatzen and then the two bottom parts down and are folded übereinandergeklappt that afterwards pressed by a vertical pressure, the bottom parts with the wings to the overlap of their edges and that finally the box by closing the acute angle of the parallelogram flattened.
In the drawing, the object of the invention is illustrated schematically with reference to an embodiment. Fig. 1 shows a flat blank which is intended for the production of a box according to the invention. Figs. 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are views of the box in the five closing operations from below, parallel to the four side walls.
As shown in Fig. 1, the blank for the manufacture of the box comprises four main parts 1, 2, 3, 4, which together three notched fold edges and form the side walls of the box, the part 4 is extended by a Klebefalz 5, as Adhesive fold to form the parallelepiped is connected to the part 1.
For simplicity, the bottom parts in the upper part of the drawing are shown in Fig. 1, while the usual flaps for forming the lid are in the lower part. It can be seen that 35 are hinged to the surfaces 1 and 3, which form the narrow sides of the box, two bottom flaps 6 and 7 of approximately trapezoidal shape, whereas to the parts 2 and 4, which form the broad sides, two bottom parts 8 and 9 connected are that have an irregular shape and even small wings 10
No. 233461 and 11, which are connected along an oblique fold edge. On the other hand, the cut is completed by the usual flaps 12 and 13 and by the lid 14 with tongue 15.
The usual manufacturing process of such cartons is to run the blanks in the direction of arrow 16 of FIG. 1 by a machine which in successive Arbeits5 operations, the folding down of the flaps 6, 7, 8 and 9 and the folding of the wings 10, 11th in the opposite sense · makes, this track can be supplemented by a lateral displacement in a direction perpendicular thereto. The machine also effects the application of adhesive to the wings 10, 11 and the adhesive fold 5 and the folding along two of the four fold edges which delimit the box body, the part 1 to the adhesive fold 5 and the bottom flaps 6, 7 on the wings 10 and ,
11 come to the plant.
The disadvantage is that the machines required to carry out these operations must be special reciprocating machines which necessarily operate at a slow rate and must perform precisely synchronized movements, both because of the high cost of production and time; which is necessary to adjust the various organs for each box model is particularly disadvantageous.
According to the method of the invention, the closing of the boxes can be done easily: In a first operation, which can be carried out at high speed on continuous machines of the usual type, the gluing of the glue pellet 5 and the formation of the box body are carried out as in a normal folding box without first having to deal with the soil.
In a second operation, the blanks prepared in this way are set up again in the form of a parallelogram, as shown in FIG. 2. In this form, which can be produced, for example, by means of a correspondingly shaped core, on which one pushes the box, the four sides correspond to the side walls 1, 2, 3 and 4. of the box. The two angles between the side walls
1 and 2 or the walls 3 and 4 are acute angles and correspond to the acute angle of the trapezes 6 or 7 on the side of the wings 10 and 11, as shown in FIG. 3 can be seen.
Under these circumstances, in a third operation at the same time the two bottom flaps 6 and 7 are folded back into the plane of the edge parallelogram. At the same time, glue pads are applied to the flaps, indicated by the (dashed) zones 17 and 18 in FIG.
In the fourth operation, the two bottom parts 8 and 9 are folded over the bottom flaps, as shown in FIG. 4. The position of the adhesive pads 17 and 18 is chosen so that in this operation, the wings 10 and 11 come into contact with those and not the corresponding floor parts.
In a fifth operation, perpendicular to the edge parallelogram and in the middle thereof, a pressure is exerted against the interior of the box which causes the two bottom parts 8 and 9 and at the same time the bottom flaps 6 and 7 to be pushed in until the two bottom parts 8 and 9 separate from each other, as shown in FIG. 5. At the same time this movement causes a sliding of the wings 10 and 11 along the surface of the bottom flaps 6 and 7, wherein the wings gradually bend along the folded edges 19 and 20 against the bottom parts. This results in a spread of the adhesive gaps 40 17 and 18, whereby the gluing of the bottom flaps is ensured with the corresponding wings.
Finally, in a final operation, the entire box is folded, closing the acute angles or opening the obtuse angles, until the flat box shown in Fig. 6 is obtained, which is the usual form in which folding cartons are delivered. The drying of the adhesive felts takes place only after folding during the stacking of the boxes in a flat state.
It is noteworthy that in the method according to the invention actually only a few operations are necessary, which moreover can be carried out easily and without a special precision of the working movements. So the core that carries the box can be straight or crooked
Perform movement in the direction of arrow 21.
The folding back of the bottom flap 6 can then be obtained by a simple pressure, while the folding down of the bottom flap 7 can be effected by means of a finger-like device, which performs a reciprocating or circular motion. The application of the adhesive pads can be effected simultaneously by means of adhesive devices of known type. The folding of the 55 floor parts 8 and 9 also takes place during the movement in the direction of the arrow 21 in a simple manner by means of fixed ramps. The impressions in the fifth operation are made with the help of a back and forth3
Nr.233461 going device, which also does not have to work very precisely. Finally, the final folding of the box, which is the sixth and final operation, may occur simultaneously with the dog's or box's automatic removal from the core. The machine in which the cores move and which completes all completion processes of the soil, in addition to the Zufüh5 tion point and the take-off point for coming from the gluing and folding blanks only three working positions and is therefore very simple and because of the low precision of the working movements Easy to regulate and universally usable, as the cores are either interchangeable or adjustable.
