Particle binding to fibers

A method for fixing particles on fibers with a binder, comprising the steps of: providing a fiber material containing a fiber provided with functional groups capable of forming hydrogen bonds; providing particles having functional groups capable of forming hydrogen bonds or coordinate covalent bonds; selecting a binder from the group consisting of a polymeric binder, a nonpolymeric organic binder and non-reactive combinations thereof with each other or with other binders, the binder contains molecules include at least one functional group capable of forming a bond of hydrogen or coordinate covalent bond with the particles and at least one functional group capable of forming a hydrogen bond with the fiber material, the polymeric binder is selected from the group consisting of polypropylene glycol, a polycarboxylic acid, a polycarboxylate, one poly (lactone) polyol, a polyamide, a polyamine, one polysulfonic acid, one polysulfonate and combinations thereof; exposing the fibers to sufficient amounts of the polymeric binder in the absence of the particles, providing Binder coated and contacting the coated binder and particles under conditions that favor the formation of noncovalent bonds fibers to fix the particles on the fibers binder-coated.
