PATENT NUMBER NO. 193450
Issued on November 25, 1957 "EUMIG" ELECTRICITY AND METALWARE INDUSTRY IN VIENNA Housing for a galvanic or accumulator battery
Registered on 2 December 1955. - Beginning of the patent period: 15th February 1957.
The invention relates to a housing for a galvanic or accumulator battery for receiving individual elements in commercial cylindrical shape. The invention consists hiehei 5 essentially in that the housing of two completely identical halves, preferably made of plastic, is formed. This design has the advantage that with a tool both housing halves in the same series produced value can.
According to a further feature of the invention, the two housing halves are held together exclusively by form-fitting design of the pressing parts. Appropriately, the Ausbilis fertil is made so that protruding parts, eg. B. tongues, of a pressing member resiliently engage in the other pressing member. This has the advantage that the merger without foreign parts is made possible only by shaping the pressed parts light. By appropriate spacers in the two housing halves, expediently by centering holes for the individual cylinder elements, these can be kept in the operating position at a distance from each other, which is then important if the individual elements are not provided with an insulating sheath.
The fact that, according to a further feature of the invention, the housing parts have grooves in which the riveted ends of the in30 neren contacts forming leaf springs are secured against rotation, wherein the internally disposed grooves cut the bases of the center hole, it is achieved that the individual elements only at correct position in the housing 35 come into contact with the contacts, so that when incorrect installation of the same power supply is interrupted, whereby a fuse against short circuits is created.
In the drawing, the invention is explained on hand 40 of an embodiment which shows a battery with a housing according to the invention in the form of a commercially available flat flashlight battery.
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section along line I-I 45 of FIG. 2 through the housing, in which the individual cylinder elements are used.
Fig. 2 shows a cross section along line 11-II of Fig. 1 represents.
Fig. 3 shows a housing part in Innnenan50 view in the direction of arrows III-III.
Fig. 4 shows the two housing halves in perspective view.
In the composite of two housing halves 1 and 2 housing four commercially available cylinder elements 3, 4, 5 and 6 are used. The 55 two housing halves 1 and 2 represent completely the same Kunstharzpreßteile, which can be made with the same tool. In these pressing parts holes 7 are pressed, in which the corresponding contacts are riveted, so
The cylinder elements 3, 4, 5 and 6 have a projecting pole 8 in the usual way, while the other pole is formed by the flat bottom 9 of these elements. The cylinder elements 3 and 5 are arranged with the poles 8 upwards and the cylinders 65 derelemente 4 and 6 with the pole 9 down, so that in the adjacent elements, the unlike poles 8 and 9 are immediately adjacent to each other. In this way, as the drawing shows, the connection of these unlike poles is made possible by relatively simple contacts. The merger of the poles 8 and 9 carried by riveted leaf springs 10, wherein the end of the spring 10 abuts the pole 9, while the 75 pole 8 rests on the head of the rivet 11. By the spring 10, the relevant cylinder element 3,
4, 5 or 6 each resiliently pressed into the contact position on the rivet 11. The pole 8 of the cylinder element 3 rests against the head of the rivet 11, with which an outer contact 12 is fastened to the housing part 1. The other external contact 13 is likewise fixed again by a rivet 11 on the housing part 1. The other end of this external contact 13 is extended to form a con tact spring 14, which is guided through a slot 15 into the interior of the Gchäuseteiles 1 and resiliently presses on the pole 9 of the cylinder member 6.
The leaf spring contacts 10, 12, 13 and 14 90 gene with their riveted ends in grooves 16 on the outside of the housing parts or 17 on the inside of the housing parts. Through the side walls of these grooves a rotation of the riveted contact springs 10, 12, 13 and 14 η is prevented, so that the attachment is sufficient by a rivet. On the outside, these grooves 16 have the effect that the heads of the rivets 11 are recessed and not subject to contact with metallic parts when the battery is installed in ioo.
No. 19345 "the device in question can be closed briefly. On the inside, the two housing halves have pressed-in center holes 18, in which the cylinder elements 3, 4, 5 and 6 engage, so that they are held at a distance from each other. The end faces 19 of these centering holes 18 are cut by the groove 17, so that the inner heads of the rivets 11 are sunk in these end faces 19. As a result, it is once again prevented that, when the cylinder elements 3, 4, 5 or 6 are installed incorrectly, the poles 9 come into contact with the rivet heads 11 and the contact with the rivet heads 11 can only be produced by the protruding poles 8 Housing halves 1 and 2 are connected to each other while avoiding foreign fasteners only by form-fitting training of Kunstharzpreßteile. The pressing parts have on one side a projecting tongue 20 20 with a round notch 21 and on the other side a projecting nose 22. Under the spring action of the elastic Kunstharzpreßteile the nose 22 snaps into the notch 21, whereby the cohesion of the two housing halves 25 is given. Further protruding tongues 23 serve to prevent a rotation of the two housing parts 1 and 2 against each other.
