Adaptive uplink/downlink timeslot assignment in a hybrid wireless time division multiple access/code division multiple access communication system

A hybrid time division multiple access / code division multiple access communication arrangement comprising:. a plurality of cells including a particular cell and other cells:. the particular cell characterized in that it comprises: means for determining the cells that potentially interfere with each other cells that potentially interfere with the particular cell; means for each time slot, to eliminate that time slot for uplink communication, if the first of those that potentially interfere use that time slot for downlink communications; means for allocating a time slot to an uplink communication using non-uplink removed slots; and means for assigning a time slot to a downlink communication using removed non-downlink slots.
