A method of protecting a transgenic corn plant against damage caused by feeding one or more pests, comprising providing a seed of the transgenic corn plant, where said seed, which is also described, contains a transgenic event that has activity against at least one or more pests; and treating the seed with an effective amount of a pesticide that is selected from the group consisting of insecticides, acaricides, nematocides, fungicides, and herbicides. The transgenic event comprises the ability to express a Cry 3 protein derived from Bacillus thuringensis and has activity against an insect that is selected from the group consisting of members of the orders Lepidoptera, Coleoptera and Hemiptera.
