Method of and apparatus for providing an indication of data consumption

The invention relates to a method and apparatus for providing an indication of an operation of data by an application, said application being executable on an electronic device and to use data, via a network, from at least one remote content provider server. The method includes: providing, on the electronic device, an iconic representation for the application, the iconic representation including an indication of the operation of previous data for the application from said one or more remote servers for content providers the previous execution of said application; run the application in response to selection of the iconic representation; receiving from the network, data representing an operation of new data with the content providers or servers remotely while running the application; and provide an iconic representation to update the application, the update iconic representation including an indication of the use of data updates from the data received representing the exploitation of new data and data mining previous.
